NATO countries are divided on the question of military intervention in Libya

NATO allies are divided on whether to use military force to Libya to stop the bloodshed of the regime of Muammar Gaddafi, AFP reported. Today, the ambassadors of 28 NATO countries will discuss the situation in Libya during its regular meeting in Brussels. U.S. and Britain have raised the possibility of creating no-fly zone to prevent the forces of Gaddafi plotted to air strikes. According to London for this purpose do not need a UN mandate. France, however, insisted that any military action requires UN backing. "There is no consensus in NATO for the use of military force," said U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
